Heavy Equipment Operator

We are looking for a skilled excavator to start, maintain and complete projects. A great machine operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail, be able to read plans, and ensure safety standards. 3-5 years experience preferred in excavating basements, foundations, tapping into water mains, and sewer connections. Those are just a few of the things you will be doing at Viking Excavation. You will be able to work on a wide variety of projects.

$20 - $26 hourly

• Operate equipment to dig trenches, ditches, channels, fire hydrants, and foundations
• Dig trenches, ditches, channels, and pits with shovels and other hand tools
• Grading for parking lots, sidewalks, final grade
• Read Grade stakes
• Clear land for construction projects
• Clear building sites and repair roads and driveways
• Operate a variety of heavy construction equipment in rugged terrain
• Plan and implement traffic control methods to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic safely around the job site
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers

• Candidates to have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Must be able to run basic excavation equipment (excavators, loaders, skid steer, mini-ex, etc.)
• Heavy equipment operation: 3-5 years (Required)
• Knowledge of Heavy Equipment operations, safety practices, and maintenance procedures
• The ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety
• Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing project requirements
• Experience operating finish graders is highly desirable
• Experience in general excavation techniques and best practices
• Experience in reading engineered building plans and being able to square a building
• Ability to organize the job site for a successful working environment. (don’t put materials in an inconvenient or hazardous location)
