HEARING ITINERANT TEACHER

Qualifications:
Illinois Professional Educator License (Endorsement:DHH)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with demonstrated time management and organizational skills
Ability to perform as part of a student services team
Flexible, independent self-starter
Strong technology skills
Caseload Students:
Provide instruction directly to students on your caseload
Develop knowledge of educational needs specific to hard of hearing students;
Assist others in adapting materials, developing instructional strategies, and assessments;
Provide audiological support to students including managing hearing aids and other hearing assistive technology;
Provide services to students in a broad age range.
Assess students in a wide range of areas;
Work effectively with a diverse range of students, including students with additional disabilities and students who are culturally and linguistically diverse.
Monitor the progress of all students, including using formal and informal assessment data;
Adjust instruction and support to ensure that all learners show growth;
Serve as students' case manager and develop IEP or 504 plans.
Learning Environment
Establish and maintain an engaging, respectful, and positive learning environment;
Implement district-wide behavior expectations and philosophy (e.g. PBIS, Second Step);
Monitor the progress of all students, including using formal and informal assessment data;
Access building support systems when students need additional assistance in order to make growth;
Adjust instruction and support to ensure that all learners show growth.
Consultation and Collaboration Services
Collaborate with other teachers and specialists to develop the instructional plan aligned to district curriculum expectations and student data;
Coordinate planning for instructions with general education teacher;
Assist the general education teacher in maintaining and making effective use of hearing assistance technology;
Ensure that services with other specialists are coordinated;
Participate in the development of transition plans;
serve as the students' case manager.
Actively support and contribute to the school, district, and community activities and culture;
Establish and maintain respectful collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Professional Responsibilities:
Continuously seek to improve practice through ongoing professional development and feedback;
Purposefully adjust practice based on new learning and current data;
Maintain adequate, timely, and careful data and records as required, including but not limited to assessments, goal updates, reports, discipline, and atypical situations
Maintain student confidentiality;
Communicate needs in a proactive manner to the building principal or administrator;
Submit requests for supplies and equipment to the building principal or designee;
Provide for the care of hearing assistive technology and report any damage, issues, or problems to the administrator.
Physical Demands:
This position requires physical ability to carry out the following activities, with or without reasonable accommodations:
Gaining access to all areas of the assigned buildings;
Communicating with others (talking, hearing, keyboarding and handwriting);
Observing instructional activities (seeing, listening to oral interpretation);
Facilitating delivery of materials and equipment to appropriate sites.
Teacher may be required to travel in extreme heat or cold or extreme weather conditions.
