Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Grant Supervisor and RI Department of Health, responsible for coordinating the collection and tracking of newborn hearing screening and diagnostic data. Also as needed, scheduling and performing blood draws for Newborn Screening as request by Physician, performing and documenting results of hearing screening and critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) testing, providing administrative support to include ordering and stocking medical forms, medical supplies, and computer entry. Performs qualify assurance checks to ensure birthing hospitals are screening following the correct methodology/protocol. Serve as liaison between equipment vendor and birthing hospitals. The position will include traveling to newborn's home to conduct all ordered testing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedules and performs Newborn Screening in the home as directed by the RI Department of Health.
Makes scheduled patient visits at assigned times. Calls patient or family to schedule and confirm time of visit.
Use and maintenance of Hearing screening and CCHD equipment as needed.
Responsible for proper handling, cleaning of equipment and blood draw supplies.
Provides administrative support to include ordering and stocking medical forms, medical supplies and computer entry.
Responsible for accurate and timely entry of all testing and instruction offered to families.
Sets priorities and organizes work schedules that ensure completion of all assignments on a daily basis.
Documents according to Agency policies; completes Agency paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Answers patients' general questions with courtesy and concern; refers clinical questions to appropriate personnel.
Ensure equipment is working properly, including testing on-site.
Provide answers to questions and concerns
Coordination of equipment calibration and repair. Monitoring hearing screener certificates and competency at birthing hospitals.
Shared responsibility of contributions to EHDI communications (i.e. newsletters, website, FB page, Advisory minutes) as assigned.
Requirements:
HS diploma or equivalent required. Valid CPR certification from the American Heart Association required.
Experience in performing newborns hearing screening testing in the home. Previous home care experience preferred.
Must be able to speak, read, and write English with proficiency in oral and written communication skills required. Bilingual preferred.
Must be CPR certified. Must have a valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance.
