Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Healthcare Program Manager./Medical Assistant. The Healthcare Program Manager/Medical Assistant is located in the Nursing and Allied Health Division. This is a full-time position.
REPORTS TO:
Dean of Nursing and Allied Health/Healthcare Workforce Development
COMPENSATION:

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education:
  • An active registered nurse license either and LPN or RN and must be licensed in the State of Louisiana, Certifications in Nursing Train the Trainer, and First Aid / CPR.

Required Experience:
  • 5 years nursing experience and 3 years of teaching experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Possess strong clinical experience and excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ethical/ legal principles and professionalism in the healthcare industry.

  • Master's - Nursing and Education

Preferred Experience:
  • Previous healthcare instruction experience (higher education institution
  • Demonstrate skills for Medical Assistant, Patient Care Tech Program and LPN Program.
  • Advanced communication and organizational skills are required
  • Prepare, organize, lecture, and evaluate students understanding of Nursing Process and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Prepare, administer, and analyze examinations information.
  • Complied with the NLNAC accreditation requirements, State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospital, and OSHA requirements

  • Coordination of day-to-day activities and services of the nursing lab.
  • Knowledge of program development
  • Knowledge of State and Federal healthcare guidelines.

The Healthcare Program Manager will assist in the organization and management of healthcare workforce and educational programs for the Economic Development and Corporate Workforce Solutions Division. The candidate will be responsible for strategically planning and maintaining high-performance, results-oriented, quality training programs that will enhance employee workplace performance. The candidate will also maintain records associated with customized contract training, workshops, seminars, special project facilitation of corporate training classes and other initiatives. The successful candidate must be a strong, decisive, results-oriented individual who can develop and manage relationships with new and existing businesses.
The Healthcare Program Manager role is securing contracts for revenue, vendor research, communication with businesses and State agencies, instructor searches, BRCC staff and campus networking, and financial management of programs associated with healthcare training. This position will work within the Workforce Division to assist in building and instructing new healthcare training programs that meet industry demand. The position will help to ensure that training in this field meet all medical, State and Federal requirements as well as facilitate classes that relate to the healthcare careers.
The importance of the Healthcare Program Manager for Corporate Workforce Solutions is maintaining quality service with business and industry partners, growth and expansion. This position is a key part of the division because it will be relied on to make maintain contacts with partners and ensure that all corporate leadership and organizational development training initiatives are planned, resourced and executed in line with business needs. Additionally, this person will certify quality control of compliance in the documentation of activities related to grants, contract training, and other activities for Corporate Workforce Solutions and Economic Development.
50% Instruction of Training
  • Instructs students in principles and application of physical, biological, and psychological subjects related to nursing and other health care training programs.
  • Lecture on a number of topics including community health care, Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomy, First Aid & CPR.
  • Participates in planning curriculum, teaching schedule, and course outline.
  • Evaluating and improving teaching and nursing practices.
  • Collaborating with health care organizations to conduct needs assessments
  • Design and implementation of custom programs for companies, offer researched ideas and information to improve training programs.
  • Lectures on topics ranging from general nursing to specific specialty
  • Serve as a mentor on academic and career issues.
10% Curriculum development
  • Preparing classroom work as indicated by industry
  • Researches and prepares curriculum that meets the requirements for passage of national exams
  • Customized plans to meet training needs of the health care industry
  • Decide textbooks and other materials students will need.
15% Monitoring for program quality and record retention
  • Prepares and administers examinations, evaluates student progress, and maintains records of student classroom and clinical experience.
  • Provide valuable feedback on coursework and other assignments.
  • Set the structure and pace of your classroom.
10% Instructor recruitment
  • Assist in recruitment of new instructors for Healthcare Programs
  • Review credentials of candidates
10% Business and Student recruitment
  • Promote new courses to community to fill classes
  • Research and visit healthcare companies to promote classes and hiring of students
