Healthcare Instructor - Adult Education Center

POSITION TITLE: Healthcare Instructor - Adult Ed
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Adult Education Center
LOCATION: Adult Education Center and offsite for Clinicals
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A full contract for this position is 190 days, with benefits as specified in employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.
BEGINNING: January 2024
QUALIFICATIONS

• Registered Nurse currently licensed in Arkansas.
• Two years' nursing experience and at least one year of long term experience including at nursing services within the last five years.
• Experience may include, but is not limited to, employment in a nursing assistant education program or employment in or supervision of nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department (excluding geriatric psychiatry), long-term acute care hospital, home care, hospice care or other long term care setting.
• An instructor applicant shall also attend a seminar approved by the Division of Aging to learn the methodology of teaching the course.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Teach the course curriculum as outlined for and other instructional educational training programs developed for adults.
• Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license.
• Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
• Assist the director of Adult Ed in recruiting students for healthcare programs, and assist with implementing new healthcare programs, e.g., phlebotomy, med-tech, pharmacy tech.
• Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
• Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical training facilities, CTC staff, and prospective employers.
• Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
• Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines.
• Work as a team with the TANF Career Coach to assist students in obtaining available benefits and potential employment.
• Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting.
• Ability to work nights.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Skilled in teaching adult learners.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director.

• Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
