Position Description
The housekeeping position performs various cleaning and maintenance functions, including bed making, hard floor care, carpet care, wall cleaning, stairwell cleaning, equipment cleaning, and other related duties. The NUMBER ONE responsibility is to keep patients safe and comfortable at all times!
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing patient rooms, common areas, hallways, bathrooms, rooms, offices, doors, etc., as needed.
- Cleans the following on a daily basis using a variety of chemicals: floors, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, shelves, dispensers, trash receptacles, beds, mattresses, tables, chairs, desks, carpets, windows, mirrors, sinks, toilets, urinals, counters, doors, elevators and tracks, stairs, window tracks and ledges, café equipment and dispensers, vents and baseboards
- Responsible for ensuring the café areas are cleaned and organized following a patient meal and throughout the day.
- Responsible for emptying trash several times daily in high-traffic areas and once daily in low-traffic areas.
- Responsible for interior and exterior window cleaning weekly or as needed.
- Responsible for organizing patient’s beds twice daily.
- Refill soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers and replace toilet paper
- Performs discharge cleaning as needed
- Performs additional housekeeping needs as requested.
- Responsible for requesting needs to the Director of Operations.
Position Requirements
- Capable of standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching continuously throughout a shift.
- Capable of pushing and pulling a maid cart, linen cart, or various equipment (over 100 lb.) on tile and carpeted floors continuously throughout a shift
- Capable of pushing and pulling furniture and equipment (25 – 100 lb.) frequently.
- Must be able to handle/interact with all chemicals used (i.e., bleach, wax, Virex, etc.).
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and even other hours.
- Must have communication skills in English.
Education & Work Experience
- High School Diploma
- 1+ years of cleaning experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Cleaning experience required
Schedule
- Hours will vary depending on the needs of the program
- Weekend day required
- Holidays may be required
Physical & Travel Demands
- Standing & Walking 75% of the time
- Lifting up to 100lbs
