Job Summary


The Healthcare Financial Assistance Specialist holds a pivotal role in managing the operations of the Copay Assistance Department. This position demands an extensive understanding of various financial aid programs accessible to our patients. The incumbent is responsible for expertly navigating and securing the necessary resources, thereby ensuring comprehensive support for both our prescribers and patients in the financial aspects of their care.


Essential Functions

  • Establish a comprehensive database of financial aid options, detailing their eligibility criteria, application procedures, and other pertinent information. Regularly update this database to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Develop clear and concise communication protocols for advising patients and prescribers about financial aid opportunities. Ensure that all information is conveyed effectively and empathetically, both over the phone and through email correspondence.
  • Implement strict compliance measures with all institutional, state, and federal regulations. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about changes in laws and policies affecting financial aid and healthcare provision.
  • Adhere to established pharmacy procedures when addressing inquiries. Maintain thorough documentation for each case, both in electronic and manual formats, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Design and supply necessary forms related to various financial aid processes, ensuring they are user-friendly and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for the team on handling and filing critical documents, such as applications, eligibility confirmations, marital status, and tax information.
  • Implement systems to track and report team statistics and productivity. Utilize both electronic and manual methods to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Develop strategies for de-escalating tense interactions. Train the team to recognize when situations should be escalated to management for further resolution.
  • Develop expertise in troubleshooting issues with rejected secondary claims, ensuring swift and efficient resolutions.Research new financial resources.
  • Implement a system for tracking the availability and allocation of foundation funds, ensuring optimal utilization for patient benefit.
  • Continuously seek out and research new financial aid resources, expanding the options available to patients and prescribers.
  • Foster a culture of service excellence, emphasizing courteous, informed, accessible, and professional interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Regularly monitor the status of enrolled patients, taking proactive steps to manage enrollment expiration dates and facilitate timely re-enrollment.
