POSITION: Healthcare Actuary
FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full time
LOCATION: Remote
Circadian Health offers bundled heart & rhythm, respiratory, endocrinology and sleep health solutions to risk bearing entities. Our network of cardiologists, pulmonologists, endocrinologists and boarded sleep doctors provide on demand virtual care, from initial visit, to diagnosis, to prescribing and ongoing care. Our bundles include access to an array of in-home diagnostic testing and sleep aid products and ventilation equipment to help identify and treat emerging heart and respiratory diseases.
GENERAL SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Healthcare Actuary to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing healthcare data, modeling risk, and providing insights to support strategic decisions. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare economics, insurance principles, and statistical analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
  • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary (ASA, FSA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in actuarial work, preferably in the healthcare sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-experts.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, insurance products, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Education
  • Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.

Preferred Experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills required. Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Physical Demands
  • Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.
  • Typically, employees sit comfortably to do their work, interspersed by brief periods of standing, walking, bending, carrying papers and books, and extensive periods requiring the use of computer terminals to accomplish work objectives.
  • Required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.

Working Conditions
  • Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of heavy networking equipment.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Each Employee consistently demonstrates the following essential functions:
  • Analyze healthcare data to identify trends, assess risk, and predict future costs
  • Develop and implement actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and forecasting
  • Help Circadian structure specialty risk sharing arrangements with health plans and providers, including specialty sub-capitation, pay for performance and upside/downside risk
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and policymakers to design sustainable healthcare plans and insurance products
  • Provide strategic insights to senior management on risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Stay abreast of healthcare regulations and reforms to ensure compliance and competitive advantage
  • Prepare and present reports to stakeholders on findings and recommendations
  • Support the development of tools and processes for data analysis and actuarial work
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings. Attends seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain appropriate level of professional competence
  • Ensures all department compliance guidelines are met
  • Attends all meetings, in-services training, or continuing education as delegated by the supervisor
  • Provides customer focused interactions
  • Performs all duties necessary for the department as per department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the supervisor within the scope of practice and the responsibilities in the department
