Summary:
Goldbelt C6, LLC is seeking a Health Scientist with a mix of programmatic and analytical skills to support the support the Applied Epidemiology Studies Team. This opportunity is in the Respiratory Viruses Epidemiology Branch (RVEB), within the proposed COVID and other respiratory viruses' division (CORVD) in the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. The CDC is the nation's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency. The position will be working at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. The Health Scientist will report to Goldbelt C6 leadership to ensure the execution of timely, high-quality deliverables for the client.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct and provide scientific consultation for longitudinal and cross-sectional studies focused on the natural history of effectiveness of vaccines against respiratory viral infections.
- Conduct and support epidemiological and laboratory research to prevent and control diseases and syndromes caused by respiratory viruses.
- Provide scientific leadership for evidence-based decision making on the use of respiratory viral vaccines and other prevention measures.
- Communicate evidence-based findings on respiratory viral diseases and syndromes through presentations, publications, and other relevant venues for dissemination.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong clinical and analytical background working with long term cohort studies, and/or vaccine efficacy studies.
- Experience with publication processes with documented ability to lead, develop, implement research process from start to finish (including specifically first-author experience on scientific manuscripts).
- Basic understanding of infectious diseases and respiratory viral disease pathology, prevention, and management measures.
- Demonstrated experience with program and partner management, ideally within CDC
- Intermediate to advanced analytical skills that include hands-on use of SAS and R.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently, be solution-oriented, motivated, and committed to customer and company success.
- Cross-cultural communicator with the ability to speak with various audiences; internally and externally.
- Exceptional collaborative skills with great judgment, initiative, and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in research management, publication, and analysis.
- 8+ years of substantial research and programmatic experience.
- Previous work experience in public health; specifically, within the CDC.
- Proficient in using various statistical software (SAS, R, SPSS, Stata, etc.)
- Proficient using various data visualization software (Sisense, Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, etc.)
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDC NACI Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DrPH or PhD in Public Health or related field.
- Recent COVID work experience within the CDC.
