Position Summary:
The Health Science Instructor is a full time faculty position that includes instruction, office hours and professional contributions to the college community to create an innovative and engaging learning environment.

- Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) through the use of appropriate learning experiences and materials which provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals.
- Adhere to course syllabus and comply with Assessment of Student Academic Achievement.
• Evaluate student progress through day-to-day evaluation, written examinations and overall observation. - Grade assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting all institutional deadlines for completion.
- Establish and maintain a safe classroom/laboratory environment conducive to student learning.
- Actively support student learning through a variety of resources including but not limited to advising, tutoring, success coaching, LSS.
- Actively participate in professional activities such as, but not limited to curriculum planning, assessment activities, syllabus writing, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision, and other professional planning activities.
- Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
- Participate in professional activities, which could include, but are not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision and other professional planning activities.
- Participate in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable college committees, and other forms of college service.
- Provide input in the HSC part-time faculty evaluations.
- Support program marketing and curricular events.
- Participate in program level learning assessment, which includes helping articulate learning outcomes, choosing and administering measures, collecting and submitting relevant data, evaluating student performance, and suggesting changes to improve student learning.
- Provide leadership in identifying trends and working with other faculty to develop new curriculum to address these trends.
- Manage relationships with key transfer institutions and recommend strategies to maintain program articulation and activities/initiatives that encourage student completion.
- Remain current in academic or program discipline, including attending professional conferences, and maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements where appropriate.
- Participate in college professional development activities and stay current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.
- Other duties as assigned by the dean or department chair.
Hours/Schedule:
- Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours during fall and winter semester
- On campus presence at least four days per week during the academic year
- Being a professional faculty member at Washtenaw Community College is a year-round responsibility which includes curriculum development, professional improvement and development, and other professional responsibilities.
