Our client is currently seeking for a Health Safety Environmental Manager. You will support the development and realization of a “Zero Incident” culture in a way that serious injuries are prevented and best-in-class HSE performance is achieved.
Job Description
- In this highly visible role, you will be an integral member of the Company’s (Owner’s) Project Team, reporting directly to the Project Director of this $350M modernization effort. As the HSE Manager on this large-scale construction project, it is expected you will be involved in the following:
- Collaborating with the entire Project Team to develop a culture of HSE excellence.
- Developing an Emergency Action Plan and an HSE Audit Process and Plan.
- Conducting safety meetings and site inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow-up assessments.
- Developing the site-specific comprehensive safety procedures, including crafting, and administering training programs for all onsite workers, engineers, sub-contractors and owner/operators.
- Planning, implementing, managing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs at the project site; Monitoring the construction activities and confirming these are executed as per the HSE plan, procedures, and best practices.
- Assisting in risk assessments and preparation of method statements for construction activities.
- Providing colleagues on the Project Management team with guidance on safety issues and confirming the project site adheres to industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Performing as the primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management; Maintaining a log of these investigations, ensuring reports are issued internally; Providing support to the Project Director on safety related root cause analysis.
- Participate actively in team meetings and providing a regular on-site project presence.
- Generating and distributing weekly and monthly reports on safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Skills Required
- 10+ years of relevant Safety experience in a Heavy Industrial and/or Construction contractor environment for large capital projects such as Oil / Gas, Chemical / Petrochemical, Hazardous Waste, or Refinery design and construction projects.
- Track record of effective Safety Management and team leadership.
- Sound knowledge and practical application of ISO standards and industry regulations, Auditor accreditation a plus.
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive HSE programs for a Construction site; Experience in preparing risk assessments and method statements for construction activities.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- HSE, OSHA, NEBOSH, CSP, CIH, or related certifications in safety, occupational health, and industrial hygiene are highly relevant.
