Position Overview:
The HSE Professional is responsible for implementing and overseeing comprehensive safety programs across various departments including transmission, warehouse operations, maintenance, and support services. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and minimizing risks associated with gas transmission and related activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Safety Program Management: Develop and manage safety programs that comply with industry standards and governmental regulations. This includes creating policies for driver safety, public safety, and occupational health for warehouse, maintenance, and support department personnel.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments in all operational areas, including transportation routes, warehouse operations, and maintenance facilities. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Training and Development: Organize and deliver training sessions on HSE practices, emergency response, and accident prevention to employees at all levels.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents or safety breaches, analyze causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all activities follow relevant local, state, and federal health and safety laws. Stay updated with new legislation and adapt safety programs accordingly.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including gas leaks or spills, ensuring prompt and effective management of emergencies to protect public and employee safety.
  • Health & Environmental Monitoring: Monitor health and Environmental impact of operations, ensuring adherence to environmental protection standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed safety reports and records. Communicate safety performance metrics to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a workplace culture where safety is prioritized, encouraging employee engagement in safety practices and continuous improvement in safety standards.

Qualifications:
Education

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Professional certifications in HSE (e.g., BCSP, OSHA, NCCER) are preferable.

Experience

Required: Three to five years of proven experience in HSE roles within the gas distribution or related industries.

Preferred: Natural gas pipeline HSE construction experience; understanding of claims investigation; working knowledge of 811 locate requirements and applicable excavation laws.
