DESCRIPTION


Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Radiological Control Field Office is seeking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Health Physics Technician! Our team will work onsite located at our MFC facility and a 4x10s schedule with every Friday off. This person will report to the MFC Radiological Control Field Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Apply a knowledge of multiple radiological control principles, procedures, requirements and related instrumentation.

    Monitor for radiation, contamination & airborne radioactivity in the workplace. Ensure compliance with radiological safety requirements;

    Recommend radiation safety related improvements to work procedures for Operations Research & Development, and Maintenance, or evaluate and provide recommendations on proposed hazard mitigation techniques and controls;

    Mentor or monitor work of more junior staff and radiological workers;

    Provide work coverage & oversight for maintenance, operational, & routine work that involves radioactive materials and radiation generating devices.


QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    Successful completion of a technical school course (or equivalent) in radiation protection

    0-18+ months of RadCon experience

    This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

    Must either be currently DOE Core qualified or successfully pass the DOE Core exam administered by BEA prior to start date.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain qualification as Jr INL RCT/HPT within 1 year of start date for level 1.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain qualification as a MFC Health Physics Technician within 1 year of start date for level 2.

Job Information:

    Salary Grade: TS0100: 160 ($50,796 - $81,252) / Salary Grade: TS0200: 180 ($64,272 - $102,840)

    TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

    Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
