We are presently seeking full-time Health Information Management Clerks.
Responsibilities include:
- Answer phones inquires relating to the HIM department
- Process and answer routine requests for information from the PHI of a patient according to Greater Philadelphia Health Action policy, local, state and federal regulations
- Refer “problem” and/or non-routine request to the Manager and/or Supervisor
- Assist all walk-in customers in obtaining PHI and completion of the Authorization to Release Protected Health Information
- Processes requests for other departments within the organization
- Answer phone as necessary
- Ability to retrieve information such as Prenatal records, Immunization records, Progress Notes, Laboratory results and previously scanned document out of the Electronic Medical Record
- Acquires and maintains the knowledge base required for effective basic NextGen usage
- Review medical records and other source documents and collect clinical data according to specifications and guidelines provided by the customer. Data collected may include demographics, disease-specific data elements, vaccinations and medications.
- Follow all established processes and procedures.
- Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Consistently meet or exceed productivity and accuracy standards established
- Consistently meet attendance standards established
- Interact appropriately with peers and other co-workers. Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Scan all incoming documents such as Specialty Reports, Diagnostic Studies and other documents into the Electronic Medical Records system
- Release patients PHI requests appropriately, by the guidelines of the company, local, state and federal regulations Acquires and maintains the knowledge base required for effective basic NextGen usage
- Scan in medical documents that pertains to patient’s PHI in Document Management (ICS)
- Follow all established processes and procedures.
- Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Consistently meet or exceed productivity and accuracy standards established
- Consistently meet attendance standards established
- Interact appropriately with peers and other co-workers. Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Review of encounters daily for completeness and accuracy of the patients’ Electronic Medical Record
Requirements: Associates Degree and/ or a minimum of three years’ work experience in the clinical setting with progressive responsibilities. Must have the ability to learn and use the electronic health record system of the company. Have good verbal and written communication skills. Maintain absolute confidentiality of Health Information Management Department (HIM). Must have complete knowledge and able to abide by any local, state and federal laws applicable to a patient’s Protected Health Information (PHI). The ability to interpret the Health Information Management Department policies and procedures and apply them in specific situations.
