POSITION TITLE: Health Educator- Wellness Center
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Health Educator reports to the Supervisor and is responsible for leading educational classes and programs in-house at the Wellness Center and out in the community. This position will be based at the Wellness Center, with frequent travel to community sites, especially schools. The Health Educator collaborates with a multidisciplinary team that provides lifestyle medicine and wellness services including healthy lifestyle recommendations, nutrition, mindfulness, and fitness classes and programs. The Health Educator performs community outreach and engagement efforts that support a healthy community. Works collaboratively with other departments and community members to improve health and wellness for individuals, worksites, and the community at large.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitates and instructs group classes at the Wellness Center.
- Leads physical activity programming for a variety of fitness levels and abilities.
- Assists with prep and delivery of onsite cooking classes.
- Delivers curriculum/programs for nutrition, physical activity, and overall health and well-being to adults, youth and families in a variety of community settings. This will require travel to various community sites to deliver programming.
- Prepares and provides developmentally appropriate lessons for youth in Pre-K through grade 12 school settings.
- Participates in school and community wellness-related events.
- Actively participates in school wellness committees and/or community coalitions to promote health.
- Assists in preparation and ordering of instructional supplies needed for classes. Assists in assembling materials needed for classes and other educational activities, including food tastings.
- Assists with marketing and advertising of Wellness Center and school- and community-based initiatives.
- Assists with Wellness Center referrals.
- Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations. Frequent sitting, standing, and/or driving throughout the shift required. Must be able to perform varied activities.

Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience (paid or volunteer) supporting community programs that serve youth and adults, teaching, adult education, program delivery, or related functions; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Ability to effectively communicate with youth, patients, medical personnel, community partners and others they may come into contact with, in a positive, pleasant and constructive manner; Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines; Ability to take direction regarding work activities and procedures. Must be passionate about wellness and healthy lifestyles.
PREFERRED:
Accredited Certification as group fitness instructor.

Must be able to work independently and be self-starting as well as work with physicians, patients/family members and other co-workers courteously. Must be able to lead educational programs for all age ranges (pre-K to older adults). Must be clear thinking and able to maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Able to work with time constraints, high stress situations, and multiple tasks. Must be able to prioritize and organize work demands efficiently. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy. Must be open to giving and receiving feedback.
PAY RANGE: $21.15 - $31.31
