1. Primary Educational Functions
a. Ability to coach effectively in person, by e-mail and by phone to include the following: build a relationship of trust with client, quickly assess and respond to client needs and issues, help client work toward forming solutions for presenting problem, guide progress along plan of action with client and demonstrate gentle assertiveness in reinforcing client commitment and need for ongoing progress and improvement.
b. Assist in forming solutions and reinforce pre-defined goals with client
c. Track, manage and report on client's progress against pre-defined action plans on a weekly basis utilizing computer-based technology
d. Develop progressive exercise regiments that are safe for clients with varied conditions based upon medical history, fitness assessment and goals.
e. Conduct health risk assessments (HRA's) for apparently healthy individuals based on protocols established at The Works. This includes: demonstrating ability to conduct a finger stick analysis per organization protocols, demonstrated ability to conduct physical assessments based on protocols and demonstrating ability to screen clients effectively for potential coronary risk factors based on protocols established at The Works and send out medical clearances when indicated by the risk factors indicated.
f. Develop outcomes focused physical activity programs for clients based upon medical history, fitness assessment and goals to include demonstrating ability to instruct clients with safe and appropriate biomechanical movement principles.
g. Be competent in running education programs in both a group and individual setting. Be able to demonstrate and instruct the proper use of exercise equipment at The Works.

2. Primary Customer Service Functions
. Work within a team of clinical and wellness professionals in a way that supports a positive health outcome for all
a. Ability to inspire confidence and motivate clients
b. Serve as an integral part of an outreach team either with care management or care transitions for The Works Medical Wellness programs.
c. Assist in the development of educational opportunities for clients
d. Orient members to rules and regulations concerning exercise areas and program compliance
e. Must exhibit enthusiasm for The Works and have a friendly and engaging personality
f. Be familiar with The Works programming and events across all departments to assist in a quality client experience at The Works
g. Report all operating issues of all workout equipment and trouble shoot and document any equipment malfunctions

3. Related Functions
. Responsible for driving client outcomes including data management and maintaining accurate records for all Wellness clients and programs
a. Attend scheduled and periodic meetings, trainings and other job-specific events as required
b. Seek ongoing professional development and meet all training and development requirements
c. Demonstrate competency in use of technology (Microsoft Office, club management software, scheduling software and data management software)
d. Highly organized, efficient and demonstration of timely follow through on tasks and job requirements
e. Assist in the marketing of programs and events including social media blogs, email blasts and video posts
f. Responsible to practice within the scope of your knowledge, skills and abilities. Works Health Coaches will not provide services that are limited by state law to provision by another healthcare professional only.

Qualifications
Experience Minimum Required
  • Minimum 6 months experience in the fitness industry and/or completed course work in Health Coach or Well Coach applications.

Experience Preferred/Desired
  • Two years' experience Health Coaching in a wellness environment

Education Minimum Required
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or nutrition and an NCCA recognized Personal Training certification or Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

Training Minimum Required
  • NCCA recognized Health Coach certification and personal training certification if you have a psychology or nutrition bachelor's degree instead of Exercise Science

Training Preferred/Desired

  • Well coaches Certification

Special Skills Preferred/Desired
  • Program Development for health populations, program development for special populations

Licensure and/or Certifications Required
  • CPR within 3 months of hire

Licensure and/or Certifications Preferred/Desired
  • First Aid Certification
