Position Overview:
The Health Care Manager will lead and conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis; assist an interdisciplinary team assess regulatory, policy, and strategic opportunities for government-sponsored health programs to advance quality, improve health outcomes, and improve cost effectiveness. The Manager will be responsible for stringent self-review and reviewing work performed by staff to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness. The Manager will also be responsible for drafting written documents and presenting results/findings.
Essential Functions:
  • Understand Medicaid and Health Care policy, program operations, and reimbursement methodologies
  • Support client engagements that seek to implement delivery system and payment reform models to improve population health and health equity.
  • Work with project directors to plan, manage, and coordinate project activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within the specified time-frame.
  • Provide effective client management and interact with multiple levels of client leadership, management, and staff in the delivery of consulting services.
  • Develop client-specific subject matter expertise to support client engagements, including client organizational structure, contacts, key contracted vendors, relevant contract language, understand of regulatory
  • timelines/deadlines for filing contracts and waivers/reporting as applicable, etc.
  • Assist in completing project deliverables and manage flow of deliverables through required processes.
  • Provide strong leadership on consulting engagements, effectively supervising staff to provide quality deliverables within the defined deadlines.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews on all deliverables and reports completed by other team members.
  • Conduct detailed research and unbiased analysis, including state policy and/or legislative research and provide client support in development of related materials.
  • Draft reports, presentations, and other deliverables as assigned.
  • Coordinate staffing on projects to meet prescribed deadlines, provide high level technical knowledge and training to staff.
  • Mentor staff by delivering timely feedback and work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Prepare written analyses, white papers, and reports that demonstrate a detailed and expert understanding of assigned topics.
  • Produce client-ready deliverables such as presentations, reports, and training materials.
  • Ability to continuously and independently improve upon one's subject matter expertise and Health Care policy-related industry knowledge.
  • Establish trust-based relationships with client to better serve their organizations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions, stakeholder interviews, stakeholder focus groups, and strategic working sessions to bring participants to consensus on key topics and decisions.
  • Synthesize complex information into clear takeaways and recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations related to health and human service processes.
  • Present information in a concise matter and communicate effectively with all audiences, including senior leaders and clients.
  • Attend and lead client meetings, where necessary.
  • Maintain security of and confidentiality of all protected health information.
  • Maintain an organized approach to work and the ability to function at a high degree of independence, urgency, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Support the team with conducting research and drafting client and/or new business proposals and presentations.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public health, social work, Health Care social services, human services, business, related field preferred
  • Advanced graduate degree or equivalent (6+ years) work experience required
  • Minimum 3 years' of supervisory experience required
  • Medicaid, Health Care, health policy experience preferred, experience in the public sector preferred.
  • Experience conducting research within health and human service areas (Medicaid, behavioral health, public health, etc.) preferred
  • Experience leading projects for State Medicaid Agencies and/or supporting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services programs (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise of Medicaid and/or Health Care-related Federal authorities, regulations, laws, and Health Care delivery system concepts, strongly preferred.
  • Previous consulting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and assertive.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effectively manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments.
  • Must be able to work independently on projects and within a remote team environment
  • Proficient use of applicable software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Certification in any of the following is a plus: Project Management Professional (PMP), Change Management, User Experience, Strategic Planning, and/or Business Analysis.
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs (approximately 25-50%)
The Team:
This position reports to a Senior Manager. Senior Health Care Consultants and Health Care Consults may report to this position.
Work Style:
Our general business hours are Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm, but can vary based on business needs. Dependent on performance, our in-office associates are eligible for a hybrid work schedule after their initial 90-day training period. As a company, we are always willing to discuss potential flexibility that an employee may need to better suit their work-life wellbeing.
