Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho (PPGWNI) is looking for an energetic and versatile Health Care Assistant (medical receptionist) to join our team in Spokane! The HCA is the first person our patients see when they visit us, and create the first impression of our health centers. Our HCA's are experts at providing excellent internal and external customer service and exhibit exceptional verbal communication skills. Duties include patient check-in and check-out with attention to detail throughout the process; verify insurance eligibility, collect co-pays, providing information, materials and supplies. Must be self-motivated; demonstrate a responsible work ethic and reliability.


This is a full-time position (37.5/week) working Monday-Friday and some Saturdays. Our schedule balances the needs of our staff with those of our patients. This position does require travel to our other health centers up to 25% of the time, but will be home-sited at our Spokane Health Center.

Requirements

Core Responsibilities 

  • Ensure the patient's experience is exceptional. Anticipate needs, provide accurate information, help troubleshoot barriers, answer questions, and communicate with compassion and respect.
  • Thoroughly explain all PPGWNI funding sources, services, and ask for client donations.
  • Correctly verify details throughout the check-in and check-out process.
  • Maintain patient privacy, including all HIPAA regulations as well as additional organization privacy and security practices.
  • Actively works with the Health Center Manager and other members of clinical management to further the goals of the clinic.

Required Qualifications

  • A demonstrated commitment to PPGWNI's mission statement.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility in work schedule including working early mornings, evenings and Saturdays. 
  • High-capacity - when needed, you're able to work at a fast pace and comfortably manage a complex workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance efficiency with attention to detail.
  • Valid unencumbered driver's license, proof of insurance, and personal vehicle required.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Previous experience in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Have used Spanish in a medical setting.
  • Work experience in Sexual Reproductive Health.

Travel

  • Required up to 25% of the time to various PPGWNI health centers.
  • Valid unencumbered driver's license, proof of insurance, and personal vehicle required.
  • Travel will be reimbursed and time spent traveling is paid.
