Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance Officer/Specialist
An EHS Specialist is someone whom works
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field such as Biology or Chemistry.
- Proficient in Regulatory requirements for:
Air Emissions
• Pesticides
• SPCC
• Solid Waste
• UST/AST
• EPCRA
• Toxic Substances
• Wastewater
• Potable Water
• Hazardous Materials
• Hazardous Wastes
- Previous experience in the Medical Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) field preferred (2 years)
- Project management experience and working knowledge of hospital facilities and their departments is preferred.
Description
- One-year contract with possibility of extension up to three years

- Applicant must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective report writing, training, and consulting.
- Ability to work professionally across all levels of staffing within the facility.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently to meet all deadlines.
- Exhibit proficiency with Microsoft suite.
- Maintain organization.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Work normal business hours Monday thru Friday with the possibility of altering hours/days to ensure compliance program needs are met.
- Develop an environmental compliance program to ensure the following areas are in compliance with TDEC and EPA: air emissions, pesticides, SPCC, solid waste, UST/AST, EPCRA, toxic substances, wastewater, potable water, hazardous materials, and hazardous wastes.
- Oversee the program to ensure all departments are in compliance and all necessary paperwork is complete and up to date on a Local, State, and Federal agencies.
- Advise staff on proper handling and documentation, training, and make necessary recommendations when failures are observed.
- Become proficient with local, state, and federal regulations regarding environmental compliance.
- Understand applicable external regulations and internal policies/SOP’s and evaluate compliance status.
o This includes contributing to the development of inspection checklists, performing inspections, and preparing and presenting results.
o Deliver training to specified audiences.
o Develop training presentations and programs.
- Must abide by all hospital facility regulations and code of conduct.
