Job description

SUMMARY

Provides superior and quality customer service. Provides customers efficient and accurate transaction processing. Sells the Bank’s products and services. Provides customer referrals for new products and services on a daily basis. Considerable customer contact required. Exercises independent judgment in some instances under limited supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Promote and maintain positive relations with all contacts, customers and potential customers.
  • Comply with all department and company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.
  • Perform as a team member in allocation and coordinating the work flow.
  • Perform quarterly branch audits.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of branch teller personnel.
  • May train new employees and answer co-worker questions.
  • Will be involved in ordering, receiving, and verifying cash.
  • Operates a teller’s window to serve the bank’s customers by:Accepting retail and commercial deposits, verifying cash and endorsements and giving customers their receipts;Identifying customers and cashing checks and savings withdrawals;Accepting checking and savings deposits;Providing additional customer services including Cashier’s Checks;Accepts payments for all loans;Accepts wire transfer information;Verifying customer signatures;Balances cash drawer daily.
  • Open and Close Vault and night deposit.
  • Promotes the bank’s products and services; consistently cross-sells bank products at every opportunity.
  • Makes a concentrated effort to solve customer problems.
  • Follows teller over/short policy.
  • Allows for a flexible, often-changing work schedule with the ability to transfer to other surrounding locations to work extended hours at those branches.

  • Complies with Bank Secrecy Act, including related policies and procedures, and promptly reports suspicious activity to the BSA Officer.
  • Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports the Bank’s goals and values; benefits the bank through outside activities.
  • Performs the position safely, without endangering the health or safety to themselves or others and will be expected to report potentially unsafe conditions. The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.

SECONDARY DUTIES

The position of Head Teller performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of Head Teller is responsible for the secondary supervision of the branch teller line.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The employee is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle approximately 5% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.

The employee in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

The employee for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, beeper, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, microfilm equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, personal computer and related printers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of three years related experience.
  • Basic experience, knowledge and training in retail/operational activities, terminology and products and services.
  • Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
  • Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Current Arkansas driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage is required for driving in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
