RESPONSIBILITIES OF A HEAD SWIM TEAM COACH:
- Leads the coaching team to meet operational needs of the program and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Assists aquatic supervisor in recruiting, hiring, and training of swim coaches and volunteers.
- Works with aquatic supervisor to ensure enrollment goals and expenses fall within the budget.
- With aquatic supervisor, create the practice and meet schedule, ensuring community needs are met.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with swimmers and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
- Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and refers to other available programs.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A HEAD SWIM TEAM COACH:
- Minimum age of 17.
- Minimum of one year working as a swim team coach; preferably with the YMCA.
- Ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must have two or more years of experience swimming in or coaching for competitive swim teams.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim coach skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Ability to intentionally incorporate the YMCA Program Goals into swim practices and meets.
