Responsible for supervising, instructing and coaching all participants enrolled in the TAAF Swim TeamEssential Functions:
- Coaches a wide variety of age groups/skill levels
- Periodically submits written workouts to aquatic recreation center manager
- Maintains current team records
- Ensures the safety of all team members according to facility policies and procedures
- Ability to get along with customers, co-workers, and supervisors
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Coordinates all Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (T.A.A.F.) summer swim meet entries for Denton swim team members
- Represents City of Denton at all T.A.A.F. meetings related to swim team programs/competitions
- Assists with the hosting of all T.A.A.F. summer swim meets held in Denton
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must be at least 17 years or older
- Must have at least 2 seasons of Swim Coaching/teaching experience
- Effective competitive swimming skills
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
- Ability to communicate effectively in an instructional capacity
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Prior experience using the Colorado timing system
- USA Swimming Official's Certification (current)
- Experience leading large groups in organized activities
- Experience as a collegiate swimmer/Official
- Experience using Meet Manager (software by Hy-Tech)
- Experience using Team Manager (software by Hy-Tech)
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
Conditions of Employment:
- Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check and social security number verification check
- Must pass a physical examination
- Must be able to work the entire season; morning and/or evening hours may be required

The essential functions of this position require the use of a Colorado timing system and any other equipment required in coaching swimming.
Environmental Factors:
The essential functions of this position are performed around chlorinated water at outdoor aquatic facilities in 90-105 degree heat. Potential exists for lifting up to 25 pounds to carry class equipment.
