The Global Tax department of SAP is responsible for all tax related matters on corporate taxes within the group. It is responsible for tax compliance as well as for all strategic aspects of Tax optimization. The main area of expertise covers a broad range of national and international tax topics as well as the execution and supervision of Tax related projects. Global Tax is constantly providing support and policies to the local subsidiaries and is deeply involved in implementations of new business models.
The Head of Tax North America reports to the Head of Global Tax and is responsible for overseeing all tax-related matters for our organization in North America. This includes managing tax compliance, planning, and strategy, as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. As member of the Global Tax Leadership Team, you will collaborate with other functions of the Global Tax Team, finance, other board areas. Additionally, you will work with external stakeholders, such as tax authorities, auditors, and tax associations. The North America tax team covers the US and Canada and includes both a direct and an indirect tax team.
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, implement, and execute tax strategies and policies for the North American region, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.
  • Oversee and manage all tax compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of Tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timelines.
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate their impact on the company's tax position to senior management.
  • Provide guidance and support to other departments on tax-related matters, including tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, tax authorities and auditors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor and manage tax risks, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Oversee transfer pricing policies and ensure compliance with intercompany transactions.
  • Lead and develop a team of Tax experts spread over different countries, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A master's degree in taxation or CPA qualification is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in managing tax compliance and reporting processes.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing tax audits and inquiries.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide innovative tax solutions.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities, with the ability to effectively manage and develop a teams of Tax professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English

YOUR PROFILE
  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience as a tax advisor in tax consulting/big 4 and / or tax function of a multinational company with a focus on North American tax issues.
  • A minimum of 8 years of proven track record of leadership experience in a similar leadership capacity
