We are currently seeking an experienced Head of Product Management to join our team and oversee our Signaling & Train Control product portfolio. In this role, you will lead a team of Product managers, guiding them in executing product roadmaps and driving the success of our products. This role will report to the Group Vice President - Signaling & Systems and play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization.
We are looking for someone who possesses strong leadership skills, strategic thinking abilities, and a keen commercial focus. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully influencing cross-functional stakeholders in large organizations. Additionally, expertise in the transportation domain, customer credibility, and experience in rationalizing and growing a product portfolio are highly desirable.
As the Head of Product Management, your primary responsibilities will include:
Strategic Direction:

• Assessing market requirements and identifying current and emerging trends to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of our global customers and drive profitable growth for Wabtec.
• Collaborating with end-customers, commercial teams, and solution architects to understand market needs and translate them into multi-generational product roadmaps.
• Driving product adoption, go-to-market strategies, and commercial campaigns to accelerate the speed to market and commercialization of new and existing products within the Signaling & train control portfolio.
• Taking responsibility for the entire product lifecycle, from concept development and launch to sustaining, retirement/obsolescence, and identifying opportunities for harmonization and common platforms.
• Assessing underperforming products and exploring ways to revitalize and repurpose them if possible.
• Providing trusted advice to C-level customer executives, listening to their needs and building products that meet their desired outcomes. Additionally, offering technical support in assessing potential acquisitions and presenting synergy cases and integration strategies.

Operational / Tactical:

• Owning the profitability of the product line and defining a path for year-over-year growth in orders, backlog, and margin.
• Managing an annual multi-million-dollar budget to deliver on return on investment, product roadmap initiatives, synergies, and development.
• Facilitating the product and business planning processes, including defining business cases, conducting market and competitive analysis, identifying target customers, and setting growth forecast targets for the next 3-5 years.
• Collaborating with the commercial team to identify target customer leads and ensure the pipeline is closed and commercial orders/convertibility targets are met.
• Leading the ideation process to gather new product concepts for rapid prototyping and customer interest.
• Ensuring effective communication within the immediate team and across Wabtec, ensuring a clear understanding of the business product direction and strategy.
• Providing regular updates to the executive team on product development progress and performance.

Leadership:

• Leading a diverse team of Product managers and operations researchers, overseeing multiple products within the Signaling & Systems business.
• Guiding and influencing cross-functional teams consisting of engineering, user experience, project, architecture, and services to execute product strategies.
• Collaborating with the Engineering, Project Management, Regional, and other Product teams to ensure a focused execution aligned with the strategic direction set by Digital Intelligence and Signaling & Systems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, or a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience leading, managing, and developing software or embedded systems.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a client-facing Product Management, technology, or professional services role (e.g., SaaS, on-premise, cloud-hosted, managed services, etc.).
• Experience in the rail or transportation industry.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of your time both inside and outside to support customer discovery and product sessions.

• Strong business analysis, problem-solving, operations, project management, and prior Product Management experience.
• Ability to evangelize new technology and identify new opportunities based on product and industry trends.
• Capability to define and set commercialization strategies for tiered product and services offerings.

Technical Expertise:

• Experience overseeing the design of software applications/products for external customers.
• Understanding of the agile software development and deployment process.
• Familiarity with product delivery, development, and deployment process flows and activities, with a demonstrated capacity for product conceptualization.
• Proactively driving portfolio and investment decisions to balance customer needs, install base requirements, and long-term enterprise differentiation.
• Ability to progress concepts beyond current offerings and consider business model innovation (product, service, and delivery innovations).

Leadership:

• Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
• Ability to capture the voice of the customer through established business rhythms and customer advisory boards.
• Proactive engagement with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, design solutions using critical thinking and analytical skills, and utilize best practices.
• Foster a culture of innovation and design thinking to align product vision and strategy with customer outcomes.
