Your team responsibilities
The Head of Private Assets Product Marketing plays a leadership role in driving growth for MSCI's business. This highly visible, global role is responsible for leading and driving MSCI's Private Assets Business marketing strategy and activation plan, moving MSCI's overall positioning to be perceived as a multi-asset class investment industry solutions partner. Including Real Assets and Private Capital Solutions (through recently acquired Burgiss), he/she will own the market positioning and differentiation of our Private Assets products and solutions and driving an increasingly enterprise and client-centric view on our go-to-market programs and themes.
As Head of Private Assets Marketing, you lead a team of Product Marketers who are responsible for defining product propositions that deliver outstanding value for our customers and markets. You will develop and implement marketing strategies to drive product awareness, generate demand, and accelerate revenue growth.
This position will partner closely with research and product heads as well as the Client coverage team to develop robust positionings and GTM plans aligned with the business needs. The ideal candidate will be a global powerhouse with a deep client insights knowledge (specifically strong understanding of LPs, GPs, Brokers, as well as endowments, family offices and foundations) to translate into compelling value propositions, taking responsibility for defining and planning the messaging and tools to position MSCI's Private Assets capabilities as innovative and industry-leading solutions. His / her core focus will be to drive differentiation through global initiatives with incisive marketing for increased uptake and market share and profitability through lead generation, upsell and cross-sell strategies.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this individual will be joining an organization that has undergone tremendous change in the last three years and is growing at an extraordinary pace driven by product innovation and expansion of client use cases with impressive global marketing, commercial and client teams. Critical to the individual's success is the ability to work across Marketing (within Product Marketing and with Brand & Content Marketing, Digital Marketing, Sales Impact and Communications) and the Research, Product, Commercial and Client Service teams.

Your key responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
  • Oversee the development of product marketing campaigns and strategic initiatives for MSCI's Private Assets businesses, with the aim of driving client sales and retention, working in close collaboration with client coverage (sales), research, product, and marketing teams across MSCI.
  • Develop differentiated positioning, messaging, and product-specific content for the Private Assets business. This will be to promote both our investment capabilities across real assets and private markets, comprising new product launches and existing solutions across multiple client segments and regions.
  • Define the market opportunity for products, including segmentation and competitive analysis. Create, review, and update the global Private Assets marketing strategy, specific positioning, messaging, content, and sales tools that help to qualify and differentiate offers.
  • Provide information with which to understand the attributes and needs of key client segments, use cases, and develops ways to reach each segment with the right value proposition.
  • Work with client-facing teams and subject-matter experts to ensure client-feedback, investment insights and responses to sales objections are considered in our client and outcome-focused marketing materials.
  • Develop and manage marketing plans to stimulate ongoing revenue growth and to support special events and initiatives, such as new launches.
  • Continuously analyze product market dynamics, competitor offerings, and customer feedback to find opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
  • Oversee the product retention and upsell/cross-sell product positioning to accelerate product adoption and mitigate cancel/down-sell risk.
  • Establishes clear metrics by initiative with aligned KPIs with Product and Sales organization to measure brand building and business impact through acquisition and/or retention targets.
  • Direct the work of marketing team members to ensure that it is on-target and meets quality standards. This work includes:
    • Industry and client research
    • Competitive intelligence gathering
    • Message development
    • Media outreach
    • Advertising briefing
    • Content development for the website, sales presentations, marketing collateral and RFP responses
    • Marketing of thought capital (papers, videos, speaking engagements, etc.)
    • Events
  • Collaborate with Sales, Consulting and Client Service teams around the world to identify marketing challenges and opportunities and find productive ways to address them.
  • Build, develop and mentor an impactful team, encouraging a culture of teamwork across various MSCI Product and Sales teams.
  • Work with the CMO and the Finance team to build and manage marketing budgets.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel
  • Strategic thinker, with advanced critical thinking/analytical skills; ability to evaluate business challenges and develop solutions to deliver profitable business growth.
  • Systemic thinker to drive clarity out of complex realities.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a changing, matrix work environment.
  • Experience in B2B institutional marketing (pension funds, asset managers, endowments, foundations, and brokers) and financial advisors.
  • Experience building and leading Product Marketing in a SaaS organization designing and engaging customer and product propositions.
  • Ideally, early years' experience in FMCG acquiring the fundamentals in positioning with a client centric approach.
  • Deep understanding of the audiences across the investment ecosystem/value chain.
  • Good knowledge of investment strategies and markets, including alternatives, private markets, venture capital, infrastructure, real estate etc.
  • A strong understanding of investment management businesses (Institutional), the competitor landscape and the regulatory framework and requirements
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to executives and a variety of audiences, translating complex initiatives into materials and products that effectively communicate core values and goals.
  • Ability to give concise, compelling verbal presentations to senior decision-makers, and to respond quickly and thoughtfully to challenges and pushback in a meeting.
  • Ability to handle significant workload with strong project management skills to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Must have an operational ability to effectively perform at all levels of the business with a proven track-record of excellence in engaging and building relationships with executive-level clients.
  • Previous success in a similar position at an organization(s) renowned for Marketing and Sales excellence.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and developing impactful teams. This role will also be part of the Marketing & Communications function leadership team.
  • Experience in agency management and building digital marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Organized, detail-oriented and capable of advancing projects simultaneously.
  • Strong management skills across functions including marketing planning, vendor management, presentation skills, and event/budget planning.
