Role Overview
As the Head of Hardware, you will guide and oversee the progression of R-Zero's IoT hardware products, from conceptualization through to design and production. You will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product development, and design, to ensure the success and excellence of our hardware portfolio.
This is a hybrid work location position with a minimum of one to two days per week in our San Francisco and Menlo Park offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft and execute a comprehensive hardware strategy that aligns with the company's mission and vision, ensuring our products consistently meet the evolving demands of the market
- Lead product development by managing the entire lifecycle, from initial concept to production. This encompasses defining product requirements, creating project plans, and overseeing project budgets and timelines
- Establish and nurture the hardware engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability
- Oversee the development of prototypes and proof-of-concept hardware solutions, ensuring they meet design specifications and performance expectations
- Set and enforce rigorous quality standards, testing procedures, and compliance requirements to guarantee that our hardware products adhere to regulatory and performance standards
- Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturers to source components and materials, negotiate contracts, and optimize supply chain management
- Identify and evaluate potential risks and challenges in hardware development, and take proactive measures to mitigate them
- Efficiently manage the hardware development budget, optimizing costs, and making data-driven decisions to ensure cost-effective product development
- Closely collaborate with software, data science, and business development teams to ensure the seamless integration of Hardware and software solutions
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in hardware design and development. Apply this knowledge to drive continuous innovation
- Oversee state, national, and international certifications process and adherence for hardware products
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
- Experience in hardware development and management, showcasing a track record of successfully leading hardware projects
- Proficient in design tools, including CAD, Solidworks, Fusion360, Eagle, Arduino, etc.
- Exhibit strong leadership and team management skills
- Command a comprehensive understanding of IoT technologies
- Possess strong presentation skills and communicate clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company
