Job description

Position Summary

The Head of Government Affairs will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s policy strategy and managing its relationships with governmental and regulatory organizations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Government Affairs, lobbying, and compliance. This role will work closely with our legal team and manage external relationships with national legal firms and lobbying agencies to promote Sleeper’s interests.

Location

  • SF Bay Area, New York, Las Vegas, Seattle, or Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Government Affairs strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives.

  • Engage directly with governmental and regulatory bodies to advocate for policies beneficial to Sleeper and its user community.

  • Manage external relationships with national legal firms and lobbying agencies.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all matters related to public policy and governmental relations.

  • Lead a team focused on policy analysis, lobbying, and regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and political trends.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Law, Public Policy, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Government Affairs, lobbying, or a closely related role.

  • Proven track record in policy advocacy and negotiation.

  • In-depth understanding of the regulatory landscape affecting the sports and gaming industry.

  • Strong network of contacts within government, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Experience bringing results despite being in a disadvantaged position.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) in a relevant field.

  • Experience working in the sports or gaming industry.
