Job description

Microsoft for Startups is looking for a Head ofDiversity & Inclusion Startup Engagement to empower and inspire members of the team and ambassadors to achieve one of our central goals: a startup ecosystem that reflects the world around us. In this role, you will develop the strategy for and execute on content and programs that provide tools and resources for startups, ecosystem partners and Microsoft employees, to better authentically connect with the underrepresented members of their own communities. While supporting underrepresented minority led (URM) startups in the ecosystem is important, this role is also accountable for developing initiatives that provide enablement for all founders and foundational teams as they grow throughout their journey.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strategic vision and roadmap to develop best in class content and programs that drive our mission to support Under Represented Minority startup founders.
  • Ensuring all external and internal enablement events, collateral and internal comms meet/exceed the bar and maximize the quality and efficiency of content produced by the team.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of resources and materials (e.g. internal SharePoint sites, history and stats about URM and URM customer success stories), establishing forums for open dialog (e.g. Listening Days), and rolling out opportunities to amplify impact in and around the URM startup community
  • Aligning closely with existing marketing, communications, Diversity & Inclusion teams and others to ensure consistent messaging and themes are delivered internally and externally.
  • Create a center of excellence where startups, Venture Capitalists, Accelerators and other ecosystem partners can access resources on how to
  • Implement Diversity Equity and Inclusion through all aspects of their workplaces, including onboarding and training, hiring and recruiting practices
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to grow awareness through the creation and delivery of opportunities for meaningful engagement with across geographic regions
  • Develop insights from qualitative and quantitative session and experience data and partner with Product and other Program teams to define scalable solutions to ensure alignment between strategic decision-making and impact.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 10+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 12+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR Master's/Advanced Degree in Business, Sciences, or related field AND 10+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience in the technology industry or a related industry OR in a technical role (e.g., IT, Engineering, cloud platforms, digital transformation, capabilities, solutions).
Business Development M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $242,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $264,000 per year.
