MSCI has an immediate opening in of our fastest growing product lines for a Head of Engineering for Climate.
The systems under your responsibility will be amongst the most mission critical systems of MSCI. They require a strong technology expertise and a strong sense of enterprise system design, state of the art scalability and reliability but also innovation.
Your ability to take technology decisions in a consistent framework to support the growth of our company and products, lead the various software implementations in close partnerships with global leaders and multiple product organizations and drive the technology innovations will be the key measures of your success in our dynamic and rapidly growing environment.
Your ability to network and attract top talent to our organization will contribute to our mutual success. Your ability to understand what we do beyond the technology aspect, through the lenses of our operations, research, and product management organizations will enable you to add significant value.

Your key responsibilities
  • Providing overall strategy and technology direction for the development of applications supporting the firm's solutions
  • Strategic planning for all product development efforts to include the subsequent testing, release and production environment needs
  • Collaborating with a cross functional team to draft, implement and adapt the overall architecture of our products and support infrastructure in conjunction with software development managers, and product management teams
  • Staying abreast of new technologies and issues in the software-as-a-service industry, including current technologies, platforms, standards and methodologies
  • Participating in the strategic business and product planning process
  • Being actively engaged in setting technology standards that impact the company and its offerings
  • Being an active spokesperson and evangelist both internally and externally by communicating and promoting the company's technology vision and solutions
  • Ensuring the knowledge sharing of engineering best practices across departments; and developing and monitoring technical standards to ensure adherence to them.
  • Hiring and retaining top technology talent able to understand business requirements and turn them into software solutions.
  • Developing loyalty and commitment among colleagues by articulating an appealing vision for the future, communicating high expectations, developing and mentoring direct reports and setting an example in one's own behavior.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel
  • Prior senior Software leadership roles in product or application development and engineering for high growth companies
  • Experience with Java and the most usual programming languages such as C#, Python.
  • Ability to dive into details, hands on technologist with strong core computer science fundamentals.
  • Strong preference for financial services experience
  • Proven leadership of large-scale distributed software teams that have delivered great products on deadline
  • Proven ability to recruit the best and brightest developers in the world and provide them with a vision and working environment to develop world-class applications while instituting compelling performance measurements that continually drive transparency and improved performance
  • Excellent communication skills, strong team player, and the ability to work cross functionally
  • Experience in a modern iterative software development methodology
  • Experience with globally distributed teams and business partners
  • Experience in building and maintaining applications that are mission critical for customers
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related engineering field
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience
  • Leadership record having created results oriented and energized teams.
  • Demonstrated consensus builder and collegial peer
