This full-time, 12 month position will provide visionary leadership as the Head Football Coach for Bethel University’s nationally competitive NCAA Division III football program. Bethel University is a distinctly Christ-centered institution where Christian faith is integrated into all aspects of the college experience.
This position will provide overall leadership, organization, and management of all aspects of the football program while reporting to the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate will show full alignment with Bethel’s faith commitment, a proven ability to work together, and a history of successful and strategic leadership.
The Bethel football program has perennially been among the top in the country and plays in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), which is considered to be a top 3 football league in NCAA Division III. Since 2000, the Bethel football program has:
- 6 MIAC Championships
- 12 NCAA Playoff Appearances
- 2 NCAA Semifinal Appearances
- 5 NCAA Elite 8 Appearances
- Typically rank among the top 20 nationally for attendance
In alignment with the Department of Athletics, required responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and developing coaching staff
- Lead practices and competition
- Recruiting
- Retention of student-athletes
- Spiritual formation of student-athletes/program
- Future scheduling
- Coordinating team travel
- Monitor student-athletes academic performance
- Monitoring the operating budget
- Monitor and align with MIAC and NCAA Compliance
- Promote Bethel, Bethel athletics, and Bethel football to the community
- Develop and institute fundraising opportunities and strategies
- Alumni Engagement
- Strong supervisory skills
- Oral and written communication
- Detail oriented
- Proven track record of coaching success
- Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, manage details and a demanding schedule
- The ability to identify and recruit a strong prospect pool
- Professionally represent the program to a diverse constituency
5 years of collegiate coaching experience.
Required:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and a Masters degree.
