Qualifications:
Experience in Coaching
Knowledge of OSSAA Policy and Procedures
Current CPR Certification
Current Athletic Care & Prevention Certification
Courses in Coaching Theory Preferred
CDL Safety Education Certification
Job Goal: Promote excellent athletic performance in a safe and sportsmanlike manner. To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Employment Terms: 10 months

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consults with the athletic director and school principal to set practice and competition schedules and participation rules. Systematically disseminate the information to players and parents.
- Consults with Athletic Director to schedule officials for Varsity, Junior Varsity, 7th, 8th, & 9th grade.
- Coordinates the scheduling of transportation for 7-12 grade football programs.
- Oversees the football budget.
- Coordinates fundraising for the football program.
- Coordinates with the Quarterback Club and actively provides leadership and direction to that organization.
- Serve as liaison for the booster club.
- Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
- Maintains competency in rules, rule interpretations, meet procedures, coaching techniques, and general information about all aspects of the sport by attending professional development clinics.
- Comply with OSSAA and district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist the Athletic Director and staff with OSSLead the Ponca City Public Schools football operations, grades 7-12, to foster continuity, staff development, and student growth.
- AA compliance.
- Consult with Principal and/or Athletic Director to monitor students during school hours as needed.
- Demonstrate high visibility and involvement with providing support and/or supervision of spring sports activities (January-May).
- Build good school/community relations by acting as the program representative at civic functions and school board meetings.
- Build relationships with coaches and players in the youth football program to promote and increase knowledge of the game.
- Build and maintain satisfactory relationships with opponents and officials.
- Utilizes professional behavior in all school related interactions.
- Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
- Promote a positive image of the school district through proper dress and communication with parents, teachers, patrons and all school personnel.
- Develops a consistent and positive public communications procedure through the school and media to inform the parents and the general public about the athletic program.
- Work with other members of the school community to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational success and development of athletes.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA/NAIA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting.
- Assist student athletes with college recruitment.
- Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
- Coordinate field and equipment maintenance with the Athletic Director and Executive Director of Operations.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities, including protecting students from hazing/bullying.
- Assume responsibility for the district football large capital inventory. This responsibility includes keeping an up-to-date inventory, arranging for all needed repair and storage, and coordinating with the Athletic Director for large capital outlay purchases.
- To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee's eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee's supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
- Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
