Job Description: St. Paul's School is actively searching for a passionate and dedicated individual to assume the position of Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team to begin duties in August, 2024. As the Head Coach, the selected candidate will take charge of leading and developing the high school lacrosse program within the unique environment of a boarding school. This opportunity goes beyond shaping the athletic prowess of student-athletes, extending to contributing to their overall growth and development as individuals. Additionally, the chosen candidate will be encouraged to establish robust connections with local lacrosse youth club teams, fostering integration with the broader lacrosse community.
This position may be available to full-time faculty and be combined with a teaching position, or administrative faculty position and will include other administrative duties. Open positions for teaching and administrative faculty can also be found on our website at www.sps.edu/about/careers
The position can also be a part-time staff position.

The ability to teach the game from both the technical and tactical perspective as well as developing a positive team culture are essential parts of the job. The successful candidate places a high priority on character development and sportsmanship and uses athletics as a tool to educate students. By using interscholastic competition and all related activities, this position serves as a teacher and mentor to help build student character, prepare students for a constructive and effective life, and teach valuable life lessons including work ethic; discipline; resilience; persistence; teamwork and selflessness; goal-setting and goal achievement; overcoming adversity; and leadership.
Recruiting players of strong academic standing, high character, excellent lacrosse abilities and a desire to be part of the SPS community as well as helping to support them through the college process are also aspects of this position.
Coaching Experience and Certification:
-Demonstrate prior coaching experience in lacrosse at the high school and/or college level, showcasing a track record of success in player development and program growth.
-Possess USA Lacrosse certification or an equivalent coaching certification, ensuring a strong foundation in coaching principles and safety protocols.
-Experience in coaching club program teams, displaying an ability to navigate the dynamics of different player backgrounds and skill levels.
Qualifications:
-Thorough knowledge of lacrosse rules, strategies, and player development principles.
-Strong leadership and communication skills, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities presented in a boarding school context.
-Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes, fostering a sense of pride and commitment to both their team and the boarding school community.
-Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, aligning with the values of the boarding school.
-Experience in building and maintaining relationships with local lacrosse youth club teams.
-Relevant certifications and training in coaching.
