Summary:
Serve as the Kentucky Hazardous Materials Program Manager, to supervise the daily activities of the program at the facility; hire and train staff, maintain records, collect and analyze data, train when appropriate, complete evaluations and submit to Data Office of YouthBuild Louisville to ensure compliance with Midwest Consortium regulations that govern the program operations.

- Assists in the daily operation and management of the Midwest Consortium Hazardous Materials Program.
- Acts as a manager in the operation of the Hazardous Materials Program by organizing, and scheduling daily and weekly training for YouthBuild, businesses across the state, and local /regional fire and EMS agencies. Supervises those daily training operations.
- Ensure YouthBuild students are trained in safety certifications.
- Interviews, hires, and trains trainers and other personnel to collect, package, process, and supplies for workshops.
- Maintains records in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Collects and analyzes data as appropriate; tracks and compiles monthly data for reporting.
- Interprets and monitors Federal, State, and Local regulations and development of operational policies to effectively manage hazardous waste; conducts regular reviews of standard operating procedures to ensure they follow current Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Outreach to businesses, government, clients and schedule trainers for HAZMAT sessions.
- Build fee for service clientele to raise program income.
- Participate in all Midwest Consortium meetings/conferences and training sessions.
- Work collaboratively with Midwest Consortium member sites to build a national curriculum when necessary.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an appropriate area of specialization, preferably in chemicals, science or safety-related field. Two (2) - four (4) years of experience in Hazardous Materials handling and/or Hazardous Material training. Appropriate college coursework may be substituted at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
- Experience in emergency response and maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with the 10, 30, or 40-hour OSHA and HAZWOPER Training and all refresher courses.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, safety protocols, and regulatory changes related to Hazardous Materials.
- Must effectively use computer and digital systems, including Google Suite, Excel, and spreadsheets.
- Manage effective relationships with other YouthBuild Louisville staff.
