Job description

Summary:

Ahtna Solutions is seeking to fill positions for the abatement of asbestos-containing material (ACM) and also conduct partial interior demolition at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Work may involve both Class I and Class II asbestos abatement. Engineering controls will include establishing regulated work areas, negative air enclosures (when applicable), wet methods, HEPA vacuuming, and proper work controls. Additional work may involve partial interior demolition of the wallboard from the building and cleaning/wiping down of interior surface areas.

The project is scheduled to begin no earlier than April 1, 2024, and is estimated to take approximately 9 weeks to complete.

The pay rate for this position is $18.51/hour + $4.57/hour H&W. In addition, there is a $50/day Daily Driving rate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Removal of hazardous building materials to include Class I and Class II asbestos, lead based paint, mold and other regulated materials using hand tools and related equipment
  • Conduct partial demolition of interior building materials to include sheetrock, ceiling tiles etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to complete the appropriate training to include:
    • OSHA Lead Awareness Training
    • 40-hour asbestos worker training personnel involved with asbestos removal activities must have received the required initial 40-hour training and an annual 8-hour training update as required by the State of New Mexico and federal requirements as outlined in 40 CFR Part 763.
  • Current State of New Mexico Certificate of Fitness for asbestos abatement.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures

  • Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components
  • Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.
