Job Description
Direct hire opening with our chemical manufacturing client for a Hazardous Material Controller. Looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience in DOT hazardous shipping and warehousing.
Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload shipments of hazardous chemicals, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent regulations, including DOT, EPA, and OSHA requirements, during the handling, storage, and distribution of Hazardous Materials.
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of hazardous chemicals.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to develop and enforce safety procedures, protocols, and best practices.
- Regularly inspect and maintain Hazardous Material storage areas to identify and address safety concerns.
- Work closely with external vendors and carriers to guarantee the safe and compliant transport of hazardous chemicals.
- Participate in the development and execution of training programs to educate employees on safe handling practices.
- Assist in emergency response and spill control procedures as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations related to Hazardous Materials.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required
- A minimum of 2+ years of experience in DOT hazardous shipping and warehousing.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to Hazardous Materials.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changes in regulations and industry best practices.
- Ability to lift up to 65 lbs. occasionally
- Certifications and training will be provided internally for fork truck operation, RCRA Hazardous Waste management, DOT Hazardous Materials shipping, DOT IATA Hazardous Materials shipping, IMDG Hazardous Materials shipping
