Job Summary
The Retail Sales Associate has primary responsibility for face to face contact and service to customers who visit the D&D facility. As such, this position is responsible for making the right first impression: greeting the customer promptly and courteously, identifying the customers product need, processing the customer’s order efficiently and accurately and otherwise assisting the customer as required. In addition, the retail salesperson is responsible for maintaining the clean, complete, and attractive presentation of D&D products and facilities in the retail store.
Duties &Responsibilities:
Retail Customer Service Functions
· Greet visiting customers promptly and courteously. Understand the customer purchase requirements. This is not an “order taking” role but a “solution sales” role. Given the diversity of products, it is essential that the salesperson understand what it is the customer is looking for and what the right product is for the situation.
· It is important that the salesperson maintain an up to date understanding of the products and services the company represents.
· Process the customer order and suggest companion products as appropriate. Remain aware of specials that company is offering and provide the customer with product information as appropriate
· In those rare cases where the customer requests products which D&D does not currently sell or which are currently out of stock, note the details on reports per company policy.
· Remain aware of company promotions, specials and other programs. Promote such items during customer calls.
· The Salesperson may be called upon from time to time to assist in other general company activities such as inventory counts, data entry, etc.
Store Facilities Management
· Remain responsible for designated product areas in the store. Understand the products, prices, and product combinations recommended in the assigned area in order to be able to serve the customer effectively
· Regularly tour the sales floor and manage the physical presentation of company products as appropriate. Return misplaced items to proper homes, realign shelves, check pricing labels and otherwise assure the retail presentation of office supplies is optimized.
· Maintain awareness of general retail product movement. Work with the Store Manager to revise displays, rotate stock, create point of sales presentations and promotions and otherwise endeavor to enhance retail sales performance.
· Coordinate showroom presentation, cleaning, display revisions with company maintenance and warehouse personnel.
Qualifications
1. Prior direct experience in a retail customer service in a similar industry - knowledge of western boots and hats
2. A high school diploma or equivalent
3. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
4. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
5. Demonstrated hands-on computer, cash register and accounting software operations skills with company information systems, MS Word and Excel, email and related systems.
6. Willingness to “roll up his sleeves” and do what is necessary to get the job done.
7. This is primarily an administrative position but from time to time will require working with products in a retail environment and as such the incumbent must be capable of lifting items of at least 50 lbs.
