About The Role
The purpose of the laboratory internship is to provide a learning experience in the field of winemaking by teaching our winemaking practices using theoretical and hands-on experience.
Position starts: August through November, season dependent.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance with all safety policies
Performing analysis using Oenofoss, titrators, and alcolyzer to measure pH, TA, brix, alcohol, ammonia, free and total sulfur, VA, residual sugar
Monitoring fermentations by checking brix and temperature, as well as visual and sensory evaluations
Interpreting and reporting data to winemaking accurately and efficiently
Assisting with wine and juice sampling while always maintaining a cleanly environment
Preparation of reagents, enzymes, standards, and trials as needed
Tasting with winemakers to highlight and define fermentation decisions
Yeast inoculations, nutrient, grape must additions, and other cellar work as needed
About You
You have a degree in or are currently enrolled in Enology, Viticulture, or related scientific field, or Winemaking Certificate program; demonstrated commitment to the wine industry
Previous winery experience is desired, but not required
You can work as a dynamic and contributing team member in a fast-paced environment
You have excellent communication skills; can communicate effectively in English
You have strong organizational and problem-solving skill; ability to manage priorities and workflow
You must have a good driving record, dependable transportation, and be 21 years or older
Must work over-time as required
Ability to lift 40 pounds
Ability to build great relationships with team members

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $17.75 to $23 per hour. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of the Interior of CA, specifically the Rutherford area. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
