We are a small company that has grown in size from one to seven employees in the past year and a half, with a strong physical presence on the Gulf Coast (specifically in Mobile, Alabama). Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Expert to join our team as the lead Sentiont performer on an upcoming Cyber Security contract with the University of South Alabama (USA) Center for Forensics, Information Technology and Security (CFITS) program. This will be your first contract at Sentiont, which will span a period of two years.
You may or may not have another Sentiont team member on this contract with you, so it will be important for you to be a self-starter, highly adaptable, and to act with the utmost level of honor and integrity as a diplomat between USA CFITS and the rest of our team at Sentiont. Emotional intelligence, social skills, and a growth mindset are a must.
The CFITS contract has the following primary topic areas:
Hardware assurance, with a focus on side-channel threats
Counterfeit chips
Attestation
While CFITS has emphasized a willingness to develop talent with respect to some of these topic areas, you will be the primary subject matter expert in hardware engineering.
Contract Responsibilities (Years 1 and 2):
[Year 1]: Quickly get up-to-speed on the remaining contract topic areas that do not fall within your areas of expertise, so that you are able to assist across the wide spectrum of topics for this project.
[Year 1]: Help to develop a training program on the primary contract topic areas listed above, with special focus and attention on hardware security.
[Year 1]: Learn about and develop training modules for the following equipment:
Riscure Inspector Side Channel Analyzer and Fault Injection System
Ultra Tec ASAP-I Decapper
[Year 2]: Learn about and develop training modules for equipment to be acquired, such as:
“Lecroy” Oscilloscope
CMS Laser Ablation System
Allied X-Prep Milling / Polishing
Skyscan 2214 Multiscale X-ray Nano-CT System
[Years 1 and 2]: Conduct in-depth analyses of hardware systems, with a focus on identifying and mitigating side-channel threats, preventing and detecting the use of counterfeit chips, and improving attestation protocols.
[Years 1 and 2]: Present research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
[Years 1 and 2]: Act in a mentorship role to USA students involved on the project.
Qualifications:
Must have U.S. citizenship.
Must be able to work on campus at the University of South Alabama.
Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
Experience with hardware design, particularly in VLSI Hardware Design & Image Processing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
The ability to conduct and manage independent research.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Track record of publishing in reputable journals and conferences.
Previous research in side-channel assessment and / or encryption.
Prior experience developing and delivering training programs.
Physical Requirements:
Some travel is required.
Ability to sit and/or stand at a desk for prolonged periods.
Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods.
