Hall Monitor - Viera Charter School

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supervise students and their activities outside the classroom. To include hallways, cafeteria, locker rooms, school grounds, playgrounds, track and field, and street crossings.
2. Arrive at the school after students and remain throughout the day until students have left the building.
3. Help maintain order and report students whose behavior is unsafe or disruptive.
4. It is not up to the Hall Monitor to determine or administer any necessary disciplinary action, only to make a record of it and report it to the proper authority.
5. Locate students who are on campus but not in their assigned classrooms.
6. Guide students across streets and intersections.
7. Greet visitors, answer general questions and give directions.
8. Ask visitors for identification.
9. Maintain a logbook for security purposes.
10. Use a two-way radio for communication.
11. Communicate effectively using written and verbal communication.
12. Use good judgement decision-making and remain calm under stressful conditions.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or College Credits required
2. Previous experience preferred
