GENERAL PURPOSE:

The High Blue Gym Monitor will supervise patrons and monitor activities in the gym. The Gym Monitor provides assistance with gym setups and breakdowns for programming and events as necessary.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures the health, safety, and well-being of patrons in the gym by providing close supervision of all activities, and ensuring spaces are clean and supplies are well maintained.
• Screens the entrance of the gym to make sure that access is granted to the correct individuals.
• Determines when circumstances or altercations are unsafe.
• Assists in maintaining equipment/supplies used specifically in the gymnasium.
• Monitors the gym to ensure patrons comply with facility guidelines and procedures, such as the Code of Conduct.
• Provides information and instructions to patrons and communicates clearly with front desk attendants and other staff as necessary.
• Dismisses patrons due to disorderly conduct or violation of High Blue policies.
• Assists other staff with unsafe circumstances or altercations throughout the facility.
• Continually serve as a resource for member questions, concerns, or needs.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as needed when required.
• Maintain a professional image in the Belton Parks and in the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Must possess strong communication skills with knowledge of the High Blue Code of Conduct and facility policies.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Must uphold a positive attitude.
• Display the ability to work independently and as a team.

• Ability to work with the public and have problem solving skills.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• At least two years of customer service or security experience preferred.
• A valid State driver’s license

Working Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee occasionally works in highs, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually relatively quiet during indoor shift operations.
