About Mississippi Job Corps Center 

The Mississippi Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

Each year we provide academic, vocational training, and placement services to approximately 9,000 young people from ages 16 to 24 primarily in a residential setting. Responsibilities:

  1. Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address personal, academic, and career concerns. Provide guidance and support to help students overcome obstacles and make informed decisions.

  2. Career Counseling: Assist students in exploring career paths, setting goals, and developing plans for their future. Provide information about vocational training opportunities and educational pathways.

  3. Group Counseling: Facilitate group counseling sessions to address common issues, promote teamwork, and create a supportive community within the center.

  4. Crisis Intervention: Respond to crisis situations and provide immediate support to students facing emotional or personal challenges. Collaborate with other staff and professionals when necessary.

  5. Education Planning: Work with students to create individualized education plans, monitor academic progress, and ensure students are on track to meet their educational goals.

  6. Community Resources: Connect students with external resources, such as community organizations, social services, and employment agencies, to provide additional support and opportunities.

Provides direct student counseling services and individual student case management to ensure student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program. Identifies and remediates student barriers to success and develops individualized student career plans. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.

Bachelors degree from an accredited school (including at least 15 semester hours in Social Services-related instruction) required. A minimum of one-year experience in counseling or related field. Prefer previous Job Corps or related program experience. Must possess a valid Drivers License and meet company insurability requirements.


May provide supervision and oversight of the CPP program and staff.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited school (including at least 15 semester hours in Social Services-related instruction) required. A minimum of one-year experience in counseling or related field. Prefer previous Job Corps or related program experience. Must possess a valid Drivers License and meet company insurability requirements.

May provide supervision and oversight of the CPP program and staff.
