Guest Services Supervisor, The Statler Hotel

Cornell University’s Statler Hotel has launched a search for a Guest Services Supervisor to join our Front Office Leadership Team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is currently working as a Guest Service Agent who would like to take the first step advancing toward a career in management. A Guest Services Supervisor will learn how to lead teams of professional staff and bright, young, talented college students who are eager to learn and be inspired to work together to deliver a WOW to guests of the Statler Hotel.

Your role as a member of the Statler Hotel’s Leadership Team
:

Statler Hotel managers are expected to lead with hospitality. We connect with each member of our staff, ensuring staff feel welcomed, comfortable and important.   • The Guest Service Supervisor is a “manager-in-training”, performing front line operational duties, while also serving as a work group leader and assisting our management team with the training and supervision of other front line regular, temporary and student staff.
  • The Guest Service Supervisor will be cross-trained and able to work competently as a Guest Service Agent, Reservationist, PBX Operator or Bellperson.
  • A Guest Service Supervisor will be trained and developed to be able to serve Manager-On-Duty shifts to fill in as needed by the Front Office Management team.

What we are looking for in a Guest Services Supervisor:

  • Associates Degree and 2-4 years of relative experience working in a hotel.
  • The potential to assume responsibility, act decisively, and lead staff.
  • The potential to troubleshoot and resolve guest problems quickly and calmly.
  • Must be driven and energetic with excellent customer service, teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to coach, mentor and train students as well as other inexperienced staff.
  • Computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good working knowledge of hotel management systems/revenue management/online travel agencies.
  • Professional demeanor, dignified composure, pride in personal appearance.
  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written) and professional phone etiquette.
  • Warm and enthusiastic personality, committed to giving your best effort.
  • Must have a valid driver license
