CCI is looking for a Skilled Laborer
General Description:
The Skilled Laborer's position is responsible for general labor work and assisting with the demolition and installation of guardrail and bridge rail in Kenai peninsula and Anchorage Alaska areas. Skilled Laborers must apply sound judgment and understanding when carrying out detailed or uninvolved written and/or oral instructions.

Essential Duties Job Functions:

• Ensure a safe work environment.

• Must work in a team environment with a positive attitude.
• Assists in civil construction, excavation, backfill, compacting, welding, raking, shoveling, cleaning, organizing materials and storage yards.
• Assist in loading and unloading of material and equipment for mobilization.
• Work with skill saw, hammers, plumbing tools, power washer, manlifts, and other general construction tools. Job may require overnight travel or working away from home office for extended periods of
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to use power saws, mag drills, grinders, hand-held portable drills, Impact wrenches, read tape measures, and other applicable hand/power tools.
• Knowledgeable of equipment servicing such as greasing.
• Knowledge of load securement and working around heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety manuals, warning signs, drawings, specifications, rigging diagrams, and lifting capacity charts for equipment and load carrying.
• Skilled in sufficient oral communication to be able to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and tasks.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and volume.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in construction or labor is required.
• Some positions may require minimal equipment experience and knowledge of working around equipment.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience around heavy equipment in a construction environment is preferred.
• Five (5) years of related experience is preferred.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet. Shoveling up to 20 lbs. Frequent walking and standing. Occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching.
• HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
• VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
• LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 70 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 70 pounds for 20 feet.
• RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.

• Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.
• Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet the job's demands.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
• This position will involve working on the highway in proximity to traffic.
