Basic Job Functions:
Vulcraft/Verco Group (VVG) GTS is looking for a Senior Software Engineer for structural engineering applications. This role will be an integral part of our Engineering Tools Software development team, focusing on the strategic planning, design, development, and implementation of our specialized GTS software solutions. This opportunity is tailor-made for a seasoned professional with exceptional software development and engineering skills to contribute to continued long term Vulcraft success. This position can be located at any of our VVG facilities.
In the role of Senior Software Engineer, you'll contribute to a strategic team dedicated to enhancing our engineering and technology capabilities. Your primary focus will be driving the development and implementation of specialized GTS software solutions, ensuring they meet rigorous standards for functionality and efficiency for use by all VVG throughout the United States and Canada. You will also need to have the willingness and ability to travel infrequently for meetings with/for users, teammates, and training.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards, at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field. PhD preferred.
2. Ten or more years of experience in coding, with a focus on specialized applications.
3. Proven expertise in working with complex analytical models in a specialized domain.
4. Strong understanding of advanced software architecture and design principles.
5. Experience in the development and optimization of software for specialized applications.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented design, programming concepts, and best practices
2. Experience with documenting and executing on detailed specifications from which programs will be written
3. Deep understanding of Agile software development principles and experience leading Agile projects
4. Experience with Microsoft DevOps for source control and team collaboration
5. Proficiency in C# and Fortran programming languages.
