A Great Start Readiness Program Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning, assessing and instructing 4-year olds, based on needs of each child, and the requirements of the GSRP grant. They strive to create a safe and comfortable environment for students to learn and interact with others.
Required Professional Preparation and Experience:
- Degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood
- The successful candidate will have one of the following:
- A Child Development Associate credential (CDA)
- An Associate of Arts in early childhood/preschool education or child development
- One hundred twenty (120) clock hours of documented formal child care education offered by approved training organizations and approved by the Michigan Department of Education
- A four-year degree with an endorsement in early childhood education.
- ?Recommendation by an administrator who has supervised the work of the candidate for at least one (1) year.
- CPR and First Aid certification are required.
- Must exercise discretion and confidentiality in dealing with staff and operations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Follow all licensing guidelines related to the Great Start Readiness Program, including meeting with families on-site, maintain the appropriate staff to student ratio, and keep accurate COR notes.
- Implement developmentally-appropriate instruction for children using research-based curriculum
- Maintain accurate students records in accordance with license renewal requirements
- Enrolling new students
- Help advertise the program in and beyond the community.
- Enter weekly Health ReportsCollaborate with kindergarten staff to build a connection and smooth transition for students moving out of the program the following fall.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
