Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Factory Zero on a full-time basis.

The Role:

As the Global Supply Chain (GSC) Shift Leader - Renewable Energy Storage Systems (RESS), you will have supervisory responsibility for a medium/large group of employees in the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. The GSC Shift Lead - RESS will maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicate department quality goals, and uses resources to solve quality issues. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management, and understand to consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. The GSC Shift Leader - RESS will be responsible for 2nd and 3rd shifts RESS GSC floor activities. OT will be required daily and also for Saturday and Sunday, depending on production schedule.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment.

  • Participate in the selection of new employees and trains, develops, and evaluates salaried and hourly employees, and the development of highly effective teams.

  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as lead resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas.

  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains, and develops employees to optimally perform their jobs applying standardized methods.

  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)

  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.

  • Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.

Additional Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • MUST have the ability to work 2nd/3rd shift

  • MUST have the ability to work OT daily and also for Saturday and Sunday, depending on production schedule

  • Minimum 3 years of Manufacturing/Assembly Plant experience

  • Minimum 2 years of proven Management/Supervisory/Team Lead experience

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve difficult problems using your independent judgement

  • GSC floor experience

  • MGO/ EPS/ PPS systems knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Material Handling Safe Operating Procedures

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a related field

  • 5+ years of Leadership/Management experience within a Manufacturing/Assembly Plant environment

  • 3+ years of GSC floor experience

  • GSC experience as a Group Leader, Business Manager, or Shift Leader

  • Dock shipping/ receiving management   

  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)
