Collier Consulting (Collier) is seeking a Groundwater Modeler in Texas. In this role, you will develop and apply numerical groundwater models to support projects related to groundwater management and water resources engineering. You will work closely with our team of hydrogeologists and engineers to meet the needs of our industrial, municipal, and governmental clients. Your tasks will include collecting and analyzing hydrogeological data, determining modeling scope and needs, running and calibrating numerical models, performing quality control/quality assurance on the results, and creating written reports and visualizations. Your projects will have a wide range in scope, from the development and use of regional-scale groundwater models to support decision-making to the refinement and use of local-scale models to aid in the design of well fields and aquifer storage and recovery facilities. You will support business development activities, including presentations and proposal writing.
Description
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or a closely related field; graduate degree with a focus in groundwater modeling or hydrogeology preferred;
- Four or more years of experience working with groundwater models;
- Experience with all stages of the groundwater modeling process, including conceptual model development, numerical implementation, calibration, and uncertainty analysis;
- Experience using groundwater modeling programs such as MODFLOW, MODPATH, and MT3DM; experience with pre/post-processing software such as Groundwater Vistas, GMS, FloPy, and/or MATLAB; training or experience using variable density or unstructured grid codes (e.g., SEAWAT, MODFLOW 6) is preferred;
- Knowledge of the Texas groundwater availability modeling process; prior experience developing GAMS or similar regional models is preferred;
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail;
- Demonstrated tasks management and project organizational skills;
- Professional licensure in geology or engineering, or the ability to earn one within two years.
