Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
Under supervision and direction performs the turf, ornamental maintenance, grounds, parking lot, driveway and sidewalk maintenance including mowing, fertilizing, trimming, irrigation, snow/ice/sleet removal, asphalt patching and overall grounds-keeping of all the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines properties. Valid Drivers License required.

- On a daily basis maintains the main entrances, grounds, parking lots, driveways and sidewalks in good repair and clean of trash and debris to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.
- Observes and practices safety regulations and procedures, including but not limited to OSHA and DNV, in the care and use of equipment and tools.
- Removes snow, ice and/or sleet from UnityPoint Health - Des Moines parking lots, driveways and sidewalks utilizing sand and/or salt to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.
- Airify, spray, fertilize, mow and trim turf for all UnityPoint Health – Des Moines properties to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.
- Plants, maintains, and prunes trees, shrubbery and flowering plants for all the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines properties.
- Operates and repairs irrigation systems and fountains for all the Unity Point-DM properties.
- Attends Iowa State Turf Conference and Iowa State Shade Tree short courses to maintain CEU as scheduled by manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or two Years of experience.
Must eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Experience:
Working knowledge of the care for a wide variety of plant, tree, and shrub materials.
Working knowledge of operation and maintenance all equipment used in a grounds-keeping environment.
Working knowledge of spraying and fertilizer calibration.
Working knowledge of irrigation systems.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Current ornamental and turf pest control pesticide applicators certificate or the ability to obtain the certification within 1 year of employment.
