Spend your summer in Seward Alaska! We are looking for a groundskeeper (laborer) for the Seward Military Resort in Seward Alaska.
Typical hours are 8 am to 4:30 PM 5 days per week
Approximate dates of employment are 15 May - 15 September 2024.
Free Housing may be provided on a space-available basis and the city of Seward has a fantastic public transportation system making it easy to get by without a car!
Up to 25% recruitment and retention incentive may be authorized for positions offering at least a guarantee of 10 hours per week.

Duties:
- Perform heavy physical labor requiring the frequent lifting and carrying of items and furniture weighing 80 to 100 pounds or more.
- Operate heavy-powered equipment performing tasks that require prior work experience and training.
- Tasks include ground maintenance on grades and slopes, digging ditches and trenches, washing buildings using high-pressure sprayers, operating tillers to prepare lawns for sod and bedding plants, and cutting trees using axes or chainsaws.
- Resets nails, replace hardware, relocate playgrounds, flowerbeds, and portable structures.
Qualifications:
- Six (6) months of laboring experience is required.
- Must be able to work under general supervision, responding to initial oral or written instructions and completing assigned tasks.
- Knowledge of the processes, which require remembering directions and/or sequences be, required (e.g., mixing cement).
- Knowledge and skill in the operation, control, and cleaning of heavy, power equipment (single-function power lawn mowers with one or more cutting decks and mechanical controls, chain saws, jackhammers).
- Knowledge to work safely with heavy tools (axes, picks, tampers, chainsaws, etc).
- Skill in performing routine operator maintenance and adjusting the cutting height of blades of power mowers or in operating weight handling devices when moving heavy loads.
