Grounds Person/ Vegetation Technician

We are currently work a 4 10 schedule with overtime available.Weekends and travel may be required.

Job Description:

• Performs vegetation management and associated maintenance tasks such as line trimming, small brushing with hedgers, loppers or chainsaws, limb trimming with pole saws, loading and unloading trailers, raking of leaves and debris, trash and debris removal.
• Safely utilizes small vegetation management tools and equipment such as line trimmers, hedgers, pole saws, and chainsaws to carry out maintenance tasks
• Conduct daily inspection, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment and completes reporting logs
• Uses and maintains appropriate and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and observes all safety protocols at all times
• Reports any issues or safety hazards to Crew Leads or relevant parties – Speak Up Culture
• Assists in achieving zero injury culture through support of safety programs and actively participating in safety meetings and trainings
• Other related vegetation and maintenance tasks at an equivalent level

Daily Routine:

Meets at yard for tailgate safety discussion.

Performs and documents equipment and vehicle checks.

Travels to electric utility structure and confirms structure location.

Reviews layers in application on iPad.

• Performs customer notification before performing inspection/work
• Achieves access to structure
• Inspects and documents structure in cloud-based application
• Takes all required photos
• Identifies if clearance is required or if structure meets approved exception.
• Inspects structure for vegetation >8’ or >3.5” DBH
• Determines if brush is excessive
• Updates Work Management Tool with finding
• Performs structure brushing 10’ radius x 8’ high clearance
• Takes all required photos
• Documents all work performed in cloud-based application completely and accurately, including photos
• Removes excessive brush (if needed) and hauls to dump same day
• Saves and syncs record in cloud-based application

Returns to yard after completing assigned structures

Dumps any debris and performs end of day equipment maintenance

Job Requirements: Work is performed in an outdoor environment on a year-round basis with frequent performance of manual labor, standing for long periods of time, and frequent bending, hiking, squatting, and manual dexterity to handle objects, tools, or controls. Job sites, many of which are remote, include uneven ground, steep slopes, exposure to extreme weather conditions and poisonous plants and snakes. Potentially hazardous physical conditions such as mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, and chemical exposure may exist.

All personnel must pass their background and MVR check, as well as a pre-employment drug test in order to be hired and to remain on the job. Regular and random drug and alcohol tests will be administered throughout employment. All personnel must provide their own good condition steel toe lace-up safety boots and must arrive with a valid driver’s license or sufficient identification to satisfy the requirement of form I-9. All personnel must be reasonably proficient in the English language.

Pay: $22.00 per hour
